Many folks have asked me to share the story of Outstanding Seed Company, LLC. The story is long and fascinating. A thorough discussion requires more than this space will allow, so I will be brief. First, a heartfelt ‘Thank you’ to all our customers for your support and for all the positive feedback over the years.

The story begins in the late 1970s with a John Deere Model B tractor and a passion for growing pumpkins. A Bachelor of Science in Horticulture was earned from The Pennsylvania State University in 1985. Then a decade with a large vegetable seed breeder/producer followed. Outstanding Seed was incorporated in 2005. In 2019, we expanded and moved to our current location in the beautiful rolling hills of western Pennsylvania. Today, we offer over sixty pumpkin hybrids. All from our own breeding and production. And the passion continues.

We are one extended family dedicated to innovation and exceptionalism in the breeding, production, and sales of stacking pumpkin, specialty pumpkin, jack-o-lantern pumpkin, stripy pumpkin, and mini pumpkin hybrids.

Many growers prefer Outstanding Seed hybrids for their high germination, strong plant vigor, fruit durability, large handles, disease resistance, early maturity, and high yield potential. Our stacking pumpkin hybrids are additionally known for their unique colors, color patterns, and rind textures.

The future is bright with an incredible number of breeding lines and hybrids in development and the next generation learning and mastering the art and science of hybrid pumpkin seed breeding, production, and marketing.
